Moreover, Marine Passenger Terminal of the Korsakov Port offers transportation services between Sakhalin and the Kurils. This route is serviced by two vessels: M/V “POLARIS” (undergoes extensive repairs till April 2015) and M/V “IGOR FARKHUTDINOV”. “POLARIS” will set off for the Kuril Islands from the Port of Korsakov twice a week: on Mondays and Thursdays. M/V “IGOR FARKHUTDINOV” sails for the Kuril Islands likewise twice a week: on Tuesdays and Fridays. From June 1 M/V “IGOR FARKHUTDINOV” will switch to the so called shuttle runs, while “POLARIS” will continue round‐trips on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Thus, passenger vessels will depart for the Kuril Islands from the Korsakov Port five times a week. The number of trips may be increased to improve the quality of transportation services rendered to the population.
